Features
Everything a board can hold.
Atelier is one canvas with a lot of range, from a quick collection of references to a board you'd happily present. Here's the full picture.
The canvas
Space to think in.
An infinite canvas that holds whatever the idea needs: images, notes, swatches, palettes, to-dos, links, files, shapes and doodles, arrows that connect them. Even boards inside boards.
Group with ⌘G and edit the group in place. Snap to guides while you resize. Turn a column into a grid when a stack wants structure. Clip from your browser or capture a corner of your screen, straight onto the board.
Image craft
Make every picture sit right.
Six one-click styles that carry through faithfully to export: mono, noir, sepia, duotone, fade. Mask a photo into an arch, a blob, a scallop, or a polaroid frame. Crop with scale and rotation, the way a design tool should.
And when a subject deserves to float free, lift it clean off its background in one click. No other app involved.
Subject lift uses Apple's built-in vision framework, on macOS 14 and later.
Color & themes
A board that dresses well.
Drop in a photo and Atelier lifts its palette. Save swatches, build color stories, pick anything on screen with the built-in picker.
Then style the whole board at once with nine curated themes (Kyoto, Riviera, Desert, Noir and friends), each a matched sheet-and-backdrop pair, plus textures, grids, and light-and-shadow effects that make a board feel placed, not pasted.
Maps
Put places on the board.
Search a place and Atelier drops a real Apple Maps card with a pin: the ryokan, the venue, the corner café. Drag the map to pan, scroll to zoom, and it re-frames itself at the new view, crisp at any size.
Trip boards, wedding boards, shoot locations. Anywhere geography is part of the idea.
Find
Describe it. Find it.
Press ⌘K and describe what you remember: “warm living room”, “that blue kitchen.” Atelier looks inside the images themselves and surfaces the one. Search also understands titles, notes, boards, colors and dates, with operators when you want them.
Visual search runs on MobileCLIP, a small neural network that ships inside the app. Your library never leaves your Mac.
Templates
A head start, when you want one.
Twelve art-directed boards with fill-in slots: trip plans, brand kits, room restyles, vision boards. Drop your images into the slots and the layout holds; position, crop, frame and style survive the fill. Shuffle the palette until it's yours.

From canvas to anywhere.
Export a crisp PNG (transparent if you like) or a PDF. Share straight to Messages, Mail and AirDrop, or copy image and text ready to paste into your social media platforms.
Atelier even suggests a caption, written from the board itself: its name, its palette, its places, what's in its pictures. Use it, edit it, or ignore it.
Suggested captions are generated on your Mac, from your board alone.
All of it, on your Mac.
Every feature above works on boards that are plain files in a folder you own, and everything clever runs on-device.
